A free tool that turns one address into an honest picture of what your home actually costs you each year, where you may be overpaying, and what is coming next. No account, no email, no salesperson between you and the answer.
Who runs this
GoCheckMyHome is built and operated by Go Check My Brands, an independent publisher. It is one of the GoCheckMy family of free consumer tools. We are not a lender, a real-estate brokerage, an insurance agency, a tax firm, or a property manager. Nobody pays us to appear in your results.

Why this exists
Most of what a homeowner needs to know is sitting in public records and federal datasets, and almost none of it is assembled in one place. The sites that will assemble it usually want your phone number first, then route you to whoever is paying for leads that week. This does the opposite: it shows you the numbers first, for free, and only mentions a paid option when your own numbers suggest there is something worth acting on.
What we are and aren't
- We are an independent educational tool: a cost breakdown, an over-assessment check, an insurance benchmark, and free federal hazard context for your address.
- We are not an appraisal. The value estimate is an automated model, and no model replaces a licensed appraiser or a walk through your actual house.
- We are not tax, legal, insurance, or financial advice. We can show you that your assessment looks high; whether to appeal it is a decision for you, and often for a professional.
- We are not a lead-generation site. We do not sell your address, and there is no form that hands your details to a salesperson.
Where the data comes from
We think you should be able to check our work, so here is every source behind the report, named specifically.
- Your property's record (assessed value, tax history, year built, square footage, last sale): RentCast, a property-data provider that compiles public county records, recorded deeds, and tax assessor databases. We query it once per address.
- Estimated market value and comparable sales: RentCast's automated valuation model. This is a statistical estimate with a range, not an appraisal.
- Natural-hazard risk and disaster history: FEMA's National Risk Index (county level) and federal disaster declarations via OpenFEMA.
- Flood: FEMA's National Flood Hazard Layer for the flood zone at your coordinates, and FEMA's NFIP redacted claims for insured flood losses recorded in your ZIP code.
- Environmental sites nearby: EPA Envirofacts (Superfund/SEMS and the Toxics Release Inventory), by ZIP code.
- Neighborhood figures: the U.S. Census Bureau's American Community Survey (5-year estimates), by ZIP code.
- Electricity prices: the U.S. Energy Information Administration's residential retail price for your state.
- Rent yardstick: HUD Fair Market Rents for your county.
- Rooftop solar potential: NREL's PVWatts model, when that service is reachable.
What is an estimate, not a record
Being specific about sourcing means being just as specific about what is modeled. These figures are not read from any record about your house:
- Maintenance and energy costs are modeled from the age, size, and location of homes like yours. Your actual spending will differ.
- The insurance figure is a typical range for comparable homes, not your policy. We do not claim you are overpaying on insurance until you tell us your real premium.
- Property tax is estimated when your county publishes no tax record we can read, and the report says so on the card when that happens.
- System ages and risk are inferred from the year built, not from an inspection.
County records are also uneven. Some counties publish a full assessment history; others publish almost nothing. Where a field is thin, we label it rather than filling the gap with a confident-looking guess.
Privacy
There is no account, no password, and no email capture anywhere on this site. Your finished report is encoded inside the link itself, which is how you save or share it: bookmark the URL or send it to your spouse, and opening it re-renders the same report.
Address lookups are passed through a small relay we run so that our data provider's key is not exposed in your browser. We use privacy-focused, cookieless analytics (Cloudflare Web Analytics), which does not use cookies or track you across sites. Full details are in our privacy policy.
How we pay for it
Affiliate commissions, and only in specific places. The report is complete and useful whether or not you ever click one, and no partner can change what the tool tells you. We wrote that out in full on how we make money.
